1. How do I register for school?
Registration is a three step process. Parents who are new to the district need to get a portal user name and password and then reserve a seat online (see the Pinellas County Schools link below). Parents must also provide proof of residency and a child's immunization and school records (older students only). For more information, check out the Pinellas County Schools website below or call the office during school hours at 727-570-3173. Note- The office is not open for much of the summer. If you have enrollment questions, contact Pinellas County Schools.
2. Can my child attend Shore Acres if we do not live in the zone?
Yes, if space is available in that grade. Families who do not live in the zone need to apply for a special assignment request from Pinellas County Schools. Applicants will be placed in a lottery and spots will be offered based on space.
3. Does Shore Acres require uniforms?
No, but students must adhere to the Pinellas County Schools dress code.
4. What are the school hours?
School starts promptly at 7:35 am and ends at 1:45 pm. Parents can start dropping students off at 7:05 am and classrooms open at 7:15 am. All Pinellas County Schools students can receive free breakfast, but it is optional.
5. How can I get involved?
Joining the PTA is the best way to get involved in Shore Acres and stay in the loop. We are constantly doing volunteer activities around campus. Some teachers also ask for parent volunteers in the classroom, but we ask that parents who do volunteer help to maintain student's confidentiality. Class parties are another great way to get involved. Finally, parents/guardians can come have lunch with their child on Fridays. They just need to provide a driver's license in the front office.
6. What after school providers are available?
We have wonderful aftercare opportunities both on campus and off campus. On-campus, R Club is an affordable option that can provide students with care until 5:30 PM. Many families also use outside providers.
Other after school options who aren't school sponsors include: the Shore Acres Rec Center (very popular and always has a wait list), Northeast Park Afternoon Adventures, Tim McCahan, Afterschool Kicks, Bayside Gymnastics, and Great Explorations.
7. What clubs and activities are available at Shore Acres?
Run Club, Challenge Island, Mad Science, United Ballers, Art Science Green Team, Eagle News, Safety Patrol, PMAC (multicultural club), Strings, Glee, Chorus, Golf Club, Soccer Shots, Spanish, Cheerleading, Yoga, and Girls on the Run. These activities meet for an hour after school on different days depending on the season.
