It’s April! I can’t believe we are in the last two months of the school year! April 5th we will have our Walk & Roll to School from Denver Park. We will meet at Denver Park at 6:45am and depart at 6:55am for the 0.6-mile walk. We will also have an after-school play date at Denver Park. We hope to see everyone there. April 11th will be our last Mom's Night Out of the school year. More information will be posted on our Facebook page, Shore Acres Eagles - What’s happening at school.

The Spring Concert is May 4th. This will also be our last PTA General Meeting of the school year and we will be voting on next year’s PTA Executive Board. From PTA’s Nominating Committee (Dawn Sims, Robin Page and Carolyn Drinkard), the current nominees are:
  • President: Sue Spurgeon
  • Vice President: Gwyne Spinale
  • Treasurer: Tara Johnson
  • Secretary: Amanda Grow
  • Corresponding Secretary: Lauren Coons
In order to be nominated, a person must be a current paid member of the Shore Acres PTA. Members must consent to nomination for selected board position. If you would like to nominate yourself or another willing party, please email Dawn. Nominations for the above 5 executive board positions will also be accepted from the floor by current PTA members the evening of the vote. It's a great question and we have 8 ways to get you information to stay informed and involved in our SAE school community.
  1. PTA Website Calendar: https://www.shoreacrespta.org/pta-calendar.html
  2. Student Agendas: Each student received an agenda at the beginning of the school year. For the 2022-2023 school year, the same PTA calendar of event is located on page 10.
  3. School Newsletter: The school newsletter is emailed each month to your email from Principal Sulte. Included within the newsletter is a calendar of the monthly PTA + school events/spirt days, and more. You'll also find the 'PTA Corner' section which is a note from our President reviewing any and all upcoming PTA happenins.
  4. Our closed Facebook Group - If you new, search or click: 'Shore Acres Eagles - What's Happening at School', To become a group member, we require your name, your students full name and their grade. We pin featured news at the top, you can also scroll down through the feed OR use the magnify glass at the top to search a keyword. Ex: valentine. Then Facebook will populate any posts that use that word. 
  5. PTA Instagram: Our handle is @ShoreAcresPTA. We try to keep it current as possible.
  6. Attend a General PTA meeting: General meetings are a great way to learn what the PTA is doing, our budgeting and ways we are helping our school community.
  7. Morning & Afternoon Announcements: Each morning and afternoon, our school leaders share events.
  8. Volunteer: The best way to know what is going on a your student's school is to get involved. We understand not everyone can make it to every single event but there are many ways to pitch in. Hello SAE Families,

​Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year. My name is Gwyne, and I am the PTA President this year. I am excited for this school year and look forward to supporting our students, teachers and staff.

​Our PTA is a non-profit organization and a few examples of the types of support and activities we provide for our school community are:
  • Mini grants for teachers (books for classroom libraries, flexible seating)
  • Recess equipment for every class
  • Birthday Book Cart where every student receives a book during their birthday month -Trunk or Treat
  • Teacher Appreciation Week
  • Walk to School Events
  • Talent Show
  • Reflections Art Program
Besides providing the above support and activities, we will also be fundraising for School Beautification. This will include updates to the kindergarten playground, interactive murals and artwork in the school halls. Your membership and fundraising are what make all of this possible!

Important Dates:
  • September 14th we will have a Dad’s breakfast in the cafeteria. Join us at 7:05 a.m. for pastries and coffee.
  • September 20th we will have a Moms Night Out. Time and location will be posted on our Facebook page.
  • Our first big fundraiser, a Read-a-thon, will start September 26th. More information will be sent home closer to the date.

Our school Facebook page, Shore Acres Eagles-What’s happening at school will always have updates of events and fundraising opportunities. Don’t forget to join the PTA, it’s $5 per parent/guardian/grandparent.

Hello SAE Families!

I can’t believe school’s out in a few weeks! It has been such an amazing year. As the school year winds down I’d like to thank all the teachers, staff, parents, sponsors and PTA board for making this year so special.
We had our last General PTA Meeting in April where we voted on next years PTA Executive Board. The Executive Board for the 2022-2023 school year is:

Hello SAE Families,

It’s April!! Thank you to the 1st and 4th grade parents that donated breakfast items for the Teacher and Staff “March Madness Breakfast.” They really loved it!! For April we will be “Stocking the Break Room”. We will send out a SignUp Genius for 2nd and 3rd grade parents soon.
Important Dates
  •  April 6th we will have our Walk & Roll to School from Denver and Puryear Park. A flyer with meet up times and information is being sent home. We will also have an after school play date at Denver Park. We hope to see everyone there.
  •  April 12th will be our last Moms Night Out of the school year. More information will be posted on our Facebook page, Shore Acres Eagles - What’s happening at school.
  •  April 22nd we will be teaming up with Keep Pinellas Beautiful for an after school Earth Day Clean-up. Keep an eye out for permission slips.
  • We will have a Family Game Night and Ice Cream Social on April 28th at 6pm. This will also be our last PTA General Meeting of the school year and we will be voting on next years PTA Executive Board. We invite you to join us on November 11th to celebrate the joy of reading with our annual event, Reading Under the Stars!
Forms were sent home with students the week of 11/1 to RSVP - please fill it out and send back to your student's teacher including if your child will attend, # of guests and if you will be purchasing pizza. Below are more details about our event:
  • 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: Covered PE Court and Media Center for the Book Fair
  • 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲: Please wear red, white & blue
  • 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: Face painting, craft table, bookmark designing, writing a letter to a Veteran, photo booth, guest readers and much more!
  • 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁: FREE!!

Our Fall Catalog Fundraiser kicks off today! Packets were sent home with students (photo of online registration below) Our goal is to raise $30,000. We are raising money for school beautification and operating expenses (this includes teacher’s mini grants, field trip scholarships, events, etc.).

Volunteers needed!

Shore Acres Elementary needs volunteers to come speak to our students for the 2021 Great American Teach-In! This year's event is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 17th, 2021. Opportunities are available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. You may choose to stay for an hour or for the whole day! The amount of time you volunteer is determined strictly by what your schedule permits and what the teacher wants to accomplish!

teach-in tips

  • Plan for 20-35 students per classroom. 
  • Consider wearing attire appropriate to the occupation, hobby or topic you plan to discuss.
  • Keep the students’ average attention span in mind: 10-20 minutes for elementary grades.
  • When you arrive at the school, please check in at the office to pick up your nametag. Someone will greet you and accompany or direct you to your classroom.
  • If you plan to bring printed or audiovisual materials, please check with the teacher or school Teach-In coordinator in advance.
  • Do not ask students for personal information, including their telephone numbers or addresses.

Run Club starts next Monday, 10/4

The Shore Acres Elementary PTA is excited to present the HealthyKids Run Club at our school this year! This is a FREE club and will meet seven Mondays in 2021 - 10/4, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 11/1, 11/8, and 11/15.

​Each week on Mondays, the group will learn about different elements of fitness and complete various fun activities. We will meet on the Shore Acres Elementary PE court right after school and begin training at 1:45pm and pickup will be at 2:45pm, prompt. Please be sure your child is wearing closed-toes shoes and brings a water bottle. Run Club is open to students Grades 1-5 only.

The Run Club training will lead up to the St. Pete Run Fest weekend events held downtown St. Petersburg. Please use discount code T5DW64SA for 5% off any race when signing up online: www.stpeterunfest.org.
  • 5K, PeliKids One Mile & Lil' Shrimp Dash: Saturday, November 13th
  • Half Marathon & 10K: Sunday, November 14th

For more information, please contact the Run Club chairperson, Christie Bruner at brunerswim@gmail.com. Parent and teacher volunteers are needed, please let Christie know if you can help out for one day or the entire session. No experience necessary!

This information and permission slips will be coming home in backpacks early this week and are due by Friday, October 1st.
