what does our pta do?

funDraising

We host several fundraisers throughout the year to provide extras for the classrooms & school: Boosterthon Fun Run, the Holiday Shop, and participate in BoxTops for Education™. The PTA is a non-profit organization and a few examples of the types of support and activities the we provide for our school community are:
Mini-grants for teachers (books for classroom libraries, flexible seating), Recess equipment for every class, Birthday Book Cart where every student receives a book during their birthday month, Trunk-or-Treat, Drive-thru Santa Event, and Teacher Appreciation Week. We are always open to new fundraising ideas!

advocacy

Our students deserve the best education. We 'go-to-bat' for them and build a positive school community by being an active PTA via monthly meetings. Fun Fact: Due to the legislative advocacy of the SAE PTA, we have recess at our school & schools across Florida. You too can make a difference!

events, clubs & extras

A few of the popular fun events include: Trunk-or-Treat and Parent Breakfasts. Additionally, our PTA runs the Student/Teacher Garden Club, the Run Club & create the Yearbook. We also host Walk
N’ Roll to School Events, Talent Show
& the Reflections Art Program.

Meet our 2023-2024 PTA board. Shore Acres Elementary has many active members, chairpersons & volunteers. We are so grateful for them. After all, "it take a village!"

Sue
​spurgeon

Sue and her husband, Chris, have two children attending Shore Acres Elementary. In the 2024/2025 school year, Avyla will be in 5th grade and her brother, Case, will be in 2nd grade. Sue has been an active volunteer at SAE and joined the PTA in 2021. She is a native Floridian who grew up in the Tampa Bay area and finally settled​ in Saint Pete. She loves cooking, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family & friends. ​

gwyne spinale

​Gwyne and her husband Mike have two daughters. Her daughter Sophie will be in 7th grade (she previously attended Shore Acres) and Gianna in 3rd grade. Gwyne has been involved in the PTA since her oldest was in Kindergarten, chairing various committees and serving as Secretary, President, and Vice President. Gwyne moved to St. Pete in 2001 from San Diego. In her free time, she and her family love to travel, spend time with friends and family, and be outdoors.

Jessica and her husband Pat have one child attending Shore Acres Elementary. Kai is currently a 5th grader. Jessica has been a wonderful addition to the PTA in 2023. She immediately jump into our Treasurer position and took over. She is a office manager at a local  landscaping company. In her free time Jessica enjoys reading, decorating for all holidays and spending time with friends and family.

LAUREN​
​COONS

Lauren and her husband Matt have two children attending Shore Acres Elementary. Their son Tyde will be in 3rd grade and Fischer will be in 1st grade. Lauren has been a welcome addition to the PTA in 2023. She jumped into volunteering and was a huge help during our Spring Boosterthon and Teacher Appreciation Week. She previously worked in the medical field. In her free time, Lauren enjoys going to the beach, watching the boys play baseball, and spending time with family.

​Barrett

Tara and her husband Charlie have three children attending Shore Acres Elementary. Their son Carter is currently in 1st grade and the twins, Collins and Cooper in Kindergarten. Tara has been an active volunteer on her HOA board and currently serves as the Children's Event Coordinator. In her free time, she and her family enjoy spending time on the boat and exploring all of St. Pete's sandbars.
